What is your hourly wage after taxes?

Most wage calculators stop at the wrong number. They multiply your rate by 2,080 hours and call it a year. That is what you earn, not what you get. On $25.00 an hour, federal tax and FICA alone take $3.86 of every hour before your state has even had a look. Where you live decides the rest, and the gap is wider than most people would guess: at this wage it is $4,000 $3,999.81 a year between the best state and the worst.
Gross-to-net on an hourly basis, computed by annualising the wage at 2,080 hours and running the full stack — federal bracket schedule, FICA including the OASDI wage base, and state income tax — rather than applying a flat rate. At $25.00/hour the federal and payroll layers withhold $3.86 per hour before any state liability. The interstate spread at this wage reaches $4,000 $3,999.81 annually, Alaska to Oregon.
