Disclaimer

Every number on this site is an educational estimate. None of it is tax, legal, financial, or investment advice, and nothing here should be the sole basis for a real financial decision.
We explain. We do not advise.
There's a real difference between the two, and this site is built to stay on the content side of that line. "Here's how the standard deduction works, and what the current thresholds are" is content — it describes a mechanism using real, cited figures. "You should file this way" or "you qualify for this credit" is advice — it applies that mechanism to your specific situation, and only a licensed professional who knows your full circumstances can responsibly do that. Wherever this site's language could read as the second kind, that is a mistake in the writing, not the intent.
Estimate, not certainty
Figures are computed from real published tax brackets, thresholds, and rates, cited to their original source with the date they were last confirmed — seesources andmethodology. But tax law changes, sources go stale between our refreshes, and this site has documented simplifications — seelimitations for exactly what's not modeled. A number here is a well-sourced estimate, not a filing-ready calculation.
Before you act on a number here
- Verify anything that affects a real decision against the primary source we cite, or a current one.
- For anything involving eligibility for a credit, benefit, or program, talk to a qualified professional or the program administrator — never this site.
- Treat every figure as an estimate with the tolerance band shown next to it, not an exact answer.
